The Hundreds NY GRAND Opening
September 7, 2010 by Wesley
Filed under Art, Fashion, Street Wear
The Hundreds New York opened Friday to an anxious crowd of diehards. We were set to open at 11am, but as anyone who was at the THSF opening can also attest to, we didn’t pry the doors open until 1pm. I apologized to a few kids in line, “Sorry we’re opening 2 hours late.” One guy responded, “That’s alright. I’ve been waiting 2 years for this.”
Maybe I’m just biased, but I am convinced we have the best fans, customers, supporters of any brand, streetwear or not. Our clientele is committed, loyal, respectful, and true. One customer flew in from Dallas to say that the one thing that sets our brand apart from everyone else is that our staff, and the people behind The Hundreds, have manners. But you know what? I can turn that compliment right back around to all of you out there. Respect on all sides.

5 Reasons To Already Be Excited About November
September 6, 2010 by CashMoney

Before we start the proceedings, I will tell you right off the bat that Thanksgiving will not be 1 of the 5 events on this list. If Thanksgiving happens to float your boat, then add that to your own personal list and it will be bonus icing on the cake! I like turkey and whatnot, but these 5 things just trump it in my book, so it didn’t make the cut.
Some lists cop-out and avoid controversy by not putting their items in order from least to most-excited-about, but I will be doing just that! You deserve to know it and they deserve the recognition! Let’s get to it!
5. Black Friday- November 26th
I love this day! I truly do! I have worked in retail for a handful of years and that experience has afforded me with a great appreciation for the chaos-entertainment that day provides! Nothing makes me smile quite like seeing “civilized” people get all primal and fight over mediocre DVDs and their children’s Christmas gifts! Can’t wait!
4. Lil Wayne Gets Out Of Prison - November 5th
I didn’t buy Wayne’s last album- Rebarf… I mean, Rebirth. That doesn’t make me less of a loyal fan, just a different kind of loyal fan. I prefer great hip-hop artists to do what they do best, which is make great hip-hop music. So when Wayne decided to make subpar rock music, my wallet didn’t open. Sorry buddy! Fortunately for other like-minded individuals, we will get a hip-hop album from Weezy soon after he gets out the clink! Some rumors suggest that his new album Tha Carter IV will be released the day he does, but my sources (a.k.a. my common sense) say we are going to have to wait at least a short while! In the meantime, make sure to get your Lil Wayne’s World tee from The Forest Lab!
3. Conan Makes His Triumphant Return To Late-Night TV – November 8th
It’s old news that Conan got screwed over by NBC, so anyone in their right mind should be excited about seeing Conando return to TV screens this November! It’s impossible that TBS could treat him any worse and all signs point to him getting the proper network respect, so Conan will be free to do what he does best- say crazy stuff that’s crazily hilarious!
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Soars into Theaters- November 19th
The last 6 Potter movies have all consistenly been of high quality, with each one being better than the last! When the clock strikes midnight and the 19th is upon us, I will be in the nearest theater with my 3-D glasses on and a goofy-grin painted across my face!
1. New Kanye West Album – “Dark Twisted Fantasy” – November (TBD)
Even the Kanye album I liked the least (808’s & Heartbreak. Easily!) is better than most albums goons put out nowadays, but when ‘Ye decided to make his triumphant return to hip-hop, reason for excitement was a guarantee! Kanye’s post-808’s guest verses on tracks such as the Clipse’s “Kinda Like a Big Deal” and Drake’s “Forever” gave fans hope that he would eventually spend more quality time with hip-hop! The album’s working title Good Ass Job has transitioned into yet another working title- Dark Twisted Fantasy, so don’t be surprised if Kanye changes his mind again before his 5th album is released in late November! Expect production from legends Pete Rock, RZA and Q-Tip, plus plenty of beats from the Louis Vuitton Don himself! Reported features on the album include Kanye apprentices Kid Cudi & Big Sean, along with the Clipse, Rick Ross and Jay-Z. After hearing “Power”, its remix and the just-released “Devil In a New Dress”, I believe it’s safe to say that this is a shoo-in for album of the fall!

If you think Vampires Suck then there’s a new movie just for you. Judging from the trailer (after the jump) it has the potential to be one of the best satirical films in a long while. Not to give too much credit to the writers though, I mean, Twilight was prime for a mocking due to it’s inherent “cheese” factor. Vampires Suck hits theaters August 18th.
Also, you can get a jump on the mockery by picking up one of the Team Bela or Team Eddie tee’s below. You’ll be extra stylish at the mid-night premier if you do.

The Wrong Kind Of Friends
It was August of 2002 and I was in London, England. I walked passed a newspaper stand and among the many football soccer magazines and tabloid newspapers I saw it. It was nothing new; my older brother had a nice collection of them. He kept them in the top drawer of his dresser, I am sure trying to hide them so I could not get my hands on them. He did not know but I would flip through them when he wasn’t home, in fact I bought one every once in awhile when the cover showed a photo of one of my favorites. It was this issue though that stood out to me more than others I had seen, because on the cover stood two young men who looked to be in high school. The cover read “The Take Over” and it was the first time Lebron James (with Sebastian Telfair) graced the cover a SLAM magazine.
At that moment, I had no idea who LeBron James was, and to be honest, I still don’t think I know who he is. Read more

R.I.P. Star Tours v1.0

Today marks a significant entry in history. Star Tours, at Disneyland, will send it’s final passengers on their first flight to the forest moon of Endor this evening.
The popular Disneyland attraction will be closed from July 27th until sometime in 2011 as the 23 year old ride gets a complete makeover. The enhancements will include new high-def projectors, new motion simulators, 3-D effects, and most intriguingly… NEW DESTINATIONS.
Thats right, come 2011, space travelers won’t be limited to The Endor Express. When the attraction re-opens our trusty pilot Rex and his StarSpeeder 3000 1000 will be making new stops at differnt ports-of-call. Exactly what destinations will be added or sticky situations we might encounter remain a mystery.
But, while the creative forces of Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic are hard at work preparing the new ride system, speculation will continue to grow as the “Star Tours v2.0″ re-launch date approaches. Might we find ourselves on Tatooine, Hoth, Coruscant? I guess we’ll find out soon enough. I’ve Got A Very Good Feeling About This!
Watch the cool Star Tours v2.0 announcement video below.
P.S. When Star Tours first opened in 1987 Disneyland remained open for 60 straight hours to celebrate! I hope we can expect something equally as epic this time around.

With the Lakers Championship, “The Decision”, subsequent LeBron jersey burning parties, and now the World Cup (congrats to Spain and Spain-ards everywhere) out of the way what’s left to talk about this summer?
We’re not sure either, but, somehow we got to discussing the merits of the great debate: Team Edward vs. Team Jacob.
Needless to say we couldn’t come to an agreement. And, so, the argument rages on. What we did agree on is this: If vampires and werewolves are to battle against one another for world domination and/or the love and companionship of a chick who looks like she’s ready to cut herself if you don’t pay enough attention to her we think Eddie Munster and Bela Lugosi would be way better team captains.
What do you think – Team Bela or Team Eddie?

When G.I. Joe invaded store shelves in 1964, he was basically a glorified Ken doll created to appeal to boys who weren’t down with settling for Barbie’s hardly-macho boy-toy. G.I. Joe quickly became more than just an Army doll, he launched a franchise like none that had existed before! That one G.I. Joe character was eventually released in numerous uniforms to be prepared for battle in any scenario!
In 1982 , G.I. Joe reached new heights when Hasbro decided to expand the brand to a whole team of elite soldiers who would each have their own field of expertise. There were Army Rangers, Marines, scuba divers, Military Police, Astronauts, Firefighters, techies and unique to this collection of soldiers- a ninja! And not just any ninja, but Snake Eyes! He perhaps is the most well-known of any character in the Joe universe, thanks greatly due to his appearances in the media formats that accompanied the toy line.

Not since “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’” had a debut rap album been this anticipated and thankfully (pun intended) “Thank Me Later” was a stellar first outing.

So, yesterday came and went and Im still sans iPhone 4. I’m a bit confused though. I did everything I was suppose to. I reserved my iPhone 4 on the 15th like a good boy. I went and stood in line at the Apple Store today like I was told. Still… nothing. When I got there the line was a few blocks long and moving very slowly. I was concerned. I couldn’t even see the front of the store from I was. In fact, I was still in line when the store technically closed at 9 pm.
FIRST IN LINE FOR IPHONE 4

Sometimes coincidences are almost too good. Is this one?
By now, you’ve heard the story about the unfortunate Apple engineer who lost his iPhone 4 prototype at a bar one evening. Gizmodo, the site which ended up purchasing the prototype, also outed the person who lost it: Gray Powell.
This evening, local Bay Area affiliate ABC7 led off their coverage of tomorrow morning’s iPhone 4 launch with the Gizmodo story. They then went to one of the local Apple Stores to interview the first person in line. What they failed to realize though just how coincidental this man’s name was. Yes, Gray Powell.
Let me repeat this to be very clear: the man first in line to buy an iPhone 4 in San Francisco is apparently named Gray Powell.
Now, I didn’t see the segment, so it’s entirely possible that a mixup in the graphics led to what seems to be an extraordinary coincidence. But the person who tipped this to us did see the segment and thought the name sounded a bit familiar when ABC said it.
So that leaves the possibility that this man in line gave a fake name, perhaps to pay homage to the Apple engineer. But would someone clearly looking for publicity by being the first in line at an Apple Store for such an event really give a fake name? That would be a true fanboy.
Regardless, I’ll play along and assume that this man’s name really is Gray Powell. But then I’m also going to assume it’s not that Gray Powell. All I have to go on is the few pictures other publications posted of the Apple engineer after the incident (and at least one sort of makes the two look the same), but I’m going to go out on a limb and say I don’t think it could possibly be him.
Instead, it appears that the man who lost the iPhone 4 shares the name of a man who will be one of the first to obtain the iPhone 4. Spooky. Or is it?

LAKERS vs SUNS GM.4 (recap)
In a playoff series when a team owns home court advantage it simply means that if they win every game on their home court they will win the series. That is exactly what the Lakers have to do now that the series is tied 2-2. The story with the Lakers in game 4 is very similar to that of game 3: free throw discrepancy, little to no defense, and a lack of a sense of urgency. The Suns did exactly what was expected of them, they came out in their house and took care of business. They played the game exactly like we know they can play the game. There should be nothing shocking about the series score right now.
There are a few things that did shock me while watching game 4 though. First was the level of Read more

LAKERS vs SUNS GM.3 (recap)
When playing the highest scoring team in the NBA in a playoff series and one that plays as well as the Suns do at home it is illogical to think a sweep is going to be easy. Although with the way the Lakers started off this series it was not an impossible task. The Phoenix Suns are not a team with a wide range of game plans, they are fast, pass great, and love to shoot the three ball. These are a few aspects of the Suns game the Lakers were so successful at either stopping or out preforming them in over the last two games. It was not these areas that caused the fall of the Lakers in game three though, it was all of the success in the paint.

LAKERS vs SUNS GM.2 (recap)
After predicting that the Phoenix Suns would be the Lakers toughest competition of the post season I now see that one of two things is possible. Either I was completely dead wrong (which would not be the first time) or the Lakers are playing at a level that no other team in the payoffs is at. We all know that the Suns are the highest scoring team in the NBA but little can be said for their defense and that is exactly what we are seeing here.
The Lakers are completely dominating with their field goal percentages. We are shooting 10% better then the Suns in front of the 3-point line and 15% better from behind the line. Everything seems to be clicking for us in regards to our… Read more
